Brighton Marina has two curved concrete 'arms' that create a barrier between the open sea and the Marina. The Eastern arm is much longer and having walked right to the end I met someone who pointed out the four Purple Sandpipers that have spent the winter here. They proved to be very photogenic, feeding on the rocks, until they decided to huddle together and have a siesta in the weak wintery sun.
