Castle Hill NNR & Mill Hill - 8th May

Having failed to find any Early Spider Orchids in the Beachy Head area I decided to make a morning visit to Castle Hill NNR which has a reputation for being a good place to see these Orchids.  After a little hunting around I found several spikes as well as some Early Purple Orchids. Butterflies were represented by several Dingy Skippers. Also a Hobby flying around at the top of the hill.

In the afternoon I made my second 'first ever trip' of the day, this time to Mill Hill with the hope of seeing some more early spring butterflies. Again after a little hunting I found a Grizzled Skipper on the lower slopes where it was a little warmer. Also some Dingy Skippers and a male Adonis Blue and a Cinnabar moth.
