Ditchling Common & Horseshoe Plantation - 11th June

A frustrating day spent at Ditchling Common, with a large number of fellow butterfly enthusiasts, hoping to get good views of the Black Hairstreaks. Unfortunately the sun didn't appear until ca. 2 p.m. and when it did the Hairstreaks steadfastly refused to come down from higher up in the trees.

I decided to cheer myself up by spending the late afternoon/evening at Horseshoe Plantation photographing Bee Orchids during the 'golden hour' as well as a fresh Small Heath.
