There had clearly been a recent emergence of Small Tortoiseshells on the River Mersey just east of Cheadle Bridge. The weather was warm and sunny and there was a fresh looking Small Tortoiseshell approximately every 20-30m along the river. Also seen were Gatekeeper, Meadow Brown and a Comma.
