A search among the colony of ca. 100 Bee Orchids revealed one to be of the var. flavescens. This var., which lack the flavonoids that impart the usual rich reddish-brown colours of the Bee Orchid, is distinct from var. chlorantha which additionally lacks any chlorophyll. There were also a few Pyramidal Orchids and some male Adonis Blues.
