Beachy Head - 6th May

The Small Copper is currently the butterfly most likely to be encountered at Beachy Head with the numbers steadily increasing. Today I also found both Grizzled And Dingy Skipper in Whitbread Hollow where there is a sheltered area that is usually very good for butterflies at this time of the year. On the way home I stopped off at the 'Z-bends' to look at the Early Purple Orchids which are now starting to flower. In a couple of weeks this area will contain a profusion of EPOs and cowslips which makes for a stunning sight.
