Horseshoe Plantation & Bexhill Downs - 9th May

I cannot believe that I have walked past these Early Spider Orchids in previous years, given the sheer number of visits I have made to HP. There are only 10 that I could count, and most are quite small although the one just off the main pathway looked superb. Also saw some Grizzled and Dingy Skippers, Small Coppers and a rather worn looking Painted Lady which is part of a recent influx onto the south coast. Later in the day I found 5 Green-winged Orchids at a new site near the Bexhill Downs just off the A259.
